Audubon Society Engagement Session in Milford, CT | Kaitlyn & Nick
Arturo and I couldn’t have asked for a better day to photograph Kaitlyn at Nick during their engagement session at the Milford, Connecticut Audubon Society! The Coastal Center at Milford Point is near Walnut Beach, another one of my favorite spots for coastal New England engagement sessions! All day we had gray, overcast skies but just minutes before Nick and Kaitlyn arrived for their session the clouds parted and the sun started shining! We lucked out with some of the most spectacular light during the golden hour that evening, making their engagement photos that much more beautiful. These guys are complete naturals in front of the camera, so Arturo and I both know that they’re going to rock their wedding day portraits!
Nick proposed to Kaitlyn this spring, during her busy tax season at work. A few days before he popped the question, Nick told Kaitlyn that he’d made dinner reservations at a local Italian restaurant to ease her very overwhelmed mind and celebrate the fact that tax season was finally almost over! On the day Nick asked Kaitlyn to marry him, the two carried out their normal morning routine and headed out for work, or so Kaitlyn thought! She had mentioned to him that she would be getting out of work early that day and would be going to the gym before going home to get ready for their dinner date that evening. Kaitlyn’s plans changed a bit, and instead decided to go for a long walk with her best friend after hitting the gym before heading home. She arrived home in her gym clothes around 5:30 that evening and immediately noticed something on the ground, thinking someone had dragged leaves from their shoes into the house from outside. “OH GREAT! Something to clean up,” Kaitlyn said to herself. Once she took a closer look, she realized the leaves were actually rose petals! Very confused, Kaitlyn followed the rose petals, which led to Nick standing in their living room all dressed up with candles lit and photos of the two of them hanging on the wall behind him. It was in that moment that he got down on one knee and proposed to Kaitlyn! She was so surprised that she was totally speechless, but managed to get out a “YES!” to answer Nick’s question. That evening when they arrived to the restaurant, she saw all of their parents and siblings eagerly awaiting their arrival to celebrate the newly engaged couple!
Kaitlyn and Nick are getting married at La Bella Vista in Waterbury, Connecticut next fall and we know it’s going to be quite the celebration!
When did you know you'd found "the one"?
Kaitlyn: “I don't know if there was a specific moment when I knew he was "the one" but after getting to know each other, I knew he was the most kind, caring, giving and supportive man I had ever met. He added so much value to my life and I knew he made me a better person. I wanted to be more optimistic, patient and open-minded because of him.”
Nick: “Kaitlyn and I have always had a great relationship since the day we met. On our first date we spent hours just talking and I knew that we had a special connection. Unfortunately, our relationship didn’t work out that point in time, but we saw other people for a little and ended up back with each other. When we decided to date again, it is like we never skipped a beat. I knew I wasn’t going to let her go again and the rest is history.”
What's one thing you love about your partner?
Kaitlyn: “His positivity. I know that we can get through anything life throws at us because of his positive attitude. He is a problem solver and always finds the best in any situation.”
Nick: “She is very intelligent and I always liked that about her. But we can be very silly around each other. She’s not afraid to really be herself open up about anything. I love how we can be comfortable around each other and know how to make each other laugh!”
Besides getting married, what is one thing you're looking forward to on your wedding day?
Kaitlyn: “I am excited to be able to pick the wedding playlist! I love to dance so it will be so much fun to get everyone I love on the dance floor with me!”
Nick: “I am most looking forward to making great memories with all our closest friends and family. This will be the biggest day of our lives, and we will cherish this night forever. I am excited that our families will finally become one.”
What's one thing you're looking forward to about marriage?
Kaitlyn: “I am looking forward to starting a family and spending the rest of my life with someone who is so thoughtful, patient and always up for an adventure. Nick is going to be a fantastic husband and an even better father!”
Nick: “I’m excited to just start a life together and make more unforgettable memories. We are both so blessed to have wonderful families, and someday start a family of our own. I couldn’t have picked a better partner or family to be joining.”
