A SAYBROOK POINT RESORT & MARINA WEDDING

Sam and Matt’s Saybrook Point Resort & Marina wedding in Old Saybrook, Connecticut had all of our favorite elements that make up a perfect day for a celebration: incredible weather, the kindest friends and family, a stunning coastal venue, and most importantly, a couple with an undeniable love who radiate pure joy! Arturo and I first photographed these two last year during their engagement session at Hammonasset Beach. Five minutes into their session, we could tell Matt and Sam were absolute naturals in front of our cameras, so we’d been looking forward to their wedding day ever since!

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m always sharing about the importance of where you decide to get ready on your wedding day. Sam and Matt 100% took that advice to heart and chose the most beautiful spaces to spend the morning! The villa where Sam spent the earlier part of the day with her bridesmaids and the guesthouse where Matt was with his groomsmen were a photographer’s dream! Each space was a lovely upgrade from a standard suite, with plenty of room and dreamy light for portraits.

After everyone made their way to the church, it was time to get these two married! Beaming smiles came across both of their faces and the bride and groom locked eyes from opposite ends of the aisle. Anticipation and excitement stayed present throughout the ceremony until Matt and Sam were pronounced husband and wife and shared their first kiss!

The large hydrangea bushes in front of the Tall Tales Guesthouse where Matt had gotten ready earlier that day made a stunning backdrop for wedding party portraits. The rosy pink flowers pouring over the brick pillars complemented Sam and Matt’s blush and champagne color palette. This group of people were some of the kindest people we’ve worked with, and ensured the newlyweds were taken care of throughout the day!

The new Mr. and Mrs. opted to have their portraits taken on the marina’s dock at Saybrook Point Resort. As we were rounding the first turn, we started walking by a yacht that was docked at the resort’s marina. Much to our surprise (as well as complete excitement), the owner of the yacht invited us on for a photo op! If you know me and Arturo, you know how much we love photographing coastal portraits for our couples, and this was the icing on the cake!

Mother Nature not only gave us perfect weather that day (while keeping Hurricane Lee away from coastal Connecticut) but also presented the most wonderful golden hour that evening! Hues of soft pinks, purples, and oranges were painted across the sky as we photographed the bride and groom in front of the marina once more. From beginning to end, Sam and Matt’s wedding day was truly one for the books and one we’ll always hold close to our hearts!

THE LOVE STORY

Matt and Sam met when they were both students at Southern Connecticut State University. In her Junior year, Sam moved into the same apartment complex that Matt was living in. Being the gentleman that he is, Matt, along with his roommates, helped Sam and her roommates move their furniture and boxes into their new apartment.

They all became close friends quite quickly, and still are to this day! Matt and Sam soon became best friends, bonding over common likes and interests. They each realized what they shared was special, and from there a romantic relationship was inevitable. Since then they’ve bought a home together, have become parents to two adorable goldendoodles, and now, after six years, they’re finally married!
